Sunday Smorgasbord (feat. Daniel Klauser, Copia Doble Systema, Roberto Silva)

This is to make up for the fact that I was absent for a bit, a little bit of everything good.

First is more Daniel Klauser, the up-and-coming Chilean producer with an Andes vibe. He carries his typical flavor into some rocking dancehall on the Rootz EP (Get Flavor Records)

Rootz - Daniel Klauser

Rootz (The Phantom Remix) - Daniel Klauser [adding a disco vibe]

Together - Daniel Klauser [from Antartek Records]

Next is a little bit of Copia Doble Systema, a Danish group that bills itself as "Viking Cumbia Crunk Carioca". Now that might not make a whole lot of sense, but they're absolutely worth checking out, they have an unmatched digital cumbia sound.

Cumbia Colegiala - CDS

Colegiala Pon de Floor (Copyflex Mixup) - CDS

Cumbia Nena (feat. Catar Sys)

Copia Doble Systema - One Day, Revolution by COPIA DOBLE SYSTEMA

And last, I promised salsa, so here ya go: a beautiful 1973 album by Roberto Silva, a samba master that was featured in my Casuarina post a couple of days ago. Click on the picture if you want to download the whole album. Otherwise, here are a few tracks.

Saudade Em Forma de Samba - Roberto Silva

Amigo Leal - Roberto Silva

O Que É, O Que É - Roberto Silva

Inquietação - Roberto Silva

And one last samba jam, though not by Roberto Silva

Sem Compromisso - Sururu na Roda

Surfing the Andes with Antartek

So I recently found out about Antartek Records, and I'm so glad I did. The Amsterdam-based label's self-proclaimed mission is to find the best Southern talent and bring them to the Northern Hemisphere. Their artist often sample the pan flute, charangos, congas, timbales, and indigenous chants - naturally, I'm hooked. And even better, they offer 4 EPs for free download here. Do yourself a favor and pick them up. On a personal note the Apolinar and Aboriginal EPs are the strongest, but here are a few of the highlights of all of them.

Aboriginal - Daniel Klauser

La Conquista - Daniel Klauser

Aboriginal (Rodrigo Castro Remix) - Daniel Klauser (A deep, progressive refix)

Riberalta - Daniel Klauser

Temazcal - Matanza

Apolinar - Matanza

Chicha Sunrise - Makina
